Is it more important for students to study history and literature than it is for them to study science and mathematics?

As far as I am concerned, studies are crucial today in order to be able to get a decent job. Since we were youths we have been told that if we ever want to get a job and have a reasonable pay check, we should work and study hard throughout our lives in order to succeed, but does it matter what we learn during our school years? Will it change our future?

Nowadays children in most schools around the world have all kind of subjects going from the humanities such as history and literature, to the scientific side; mathematics and the three sciences. In other schools, kids can study the subjects which will help them for their degree at the university. In my opinion, children at elementary primary school until 6th grade should study a bit of everything as that would enrich their cultural knowledge. Nevertheless, I also believe that high school students pre-college should focus and only study what they need for university as that is what they are going to require throughout their entire lives and they will know the basic things from school.

I believe that most people would agree with me when I say that some subjects are not more important than others. Most individuals think that it does not matter what you study as we need people for all kinds of jobs; from literature teachers to doctors and both careers are as important because without teachers there would not be any doctors and without doctors people would die from illnesses.

Therefore, in my opinion, children should know a bit of all and then study in more depth for their specific degrees as by doing so, it will make an enormous difference in their future lives and jobs.
