Nowadays no matter where we look, we see advertisings
everywhere bombarding us with all kinds of information all the time. It is
believed that they deeply affect today´s society and especially young people
and children as they are the most vulnerable of all, but is this statement
completely true or does it have advantages as well?
On the one hand, I believe that often, some
commercials trick people by promoting something which is then completely
different from what we were told it was. An example of this can be when we are
informed that an object or a specific type of food is of very high quality
using striking and powerful images, slogans, spoken commentary and
perhaps even a very unforgettable or impacting ending. When we see all of
these, we directly buy it because we believe that it is the best option, and
then we find out that we have been fooled. These kind of adverts are done
by experts on marketing agencies who work onIy advertising and who know
how to trick us without getting into trouble with the law. Actually most of
these adverts cost a fortune as usually famous people are paid to appear in the
advertisement and in order to make it more popular and therefore make sure they
promote the product in the best way possible.
On the other hand, I also see eye to eye with the
people who believe that thanks to adverts, citizens get to know are well
informed about everything that is out in the market, specially the
important things like for example the new technological devices that help diabetic
people with their glucose levels. As social security does not give it to
the patients, if it weren’t for the adverts all these people would not know of
the existence of this device.
